So I've been working on the kitchen the past few days. I wanted to go with something light and soft. Well I didn't realize how hard it would be to pick out a few different shades of white. I think I have every paint swatch in white and cream on my kitchen table. So after not being happy with 2 of the choices I finally gave up and am calling it a night. I'm hoping thigs will look better with a bit of sleep!
We all have someone we love right! So this day is for everyone! Take some time today and let them all know how much they mean to you!
This is Aliya with her box for school. We had so much fun working on this together. She went to town on the top with a qtip and the pink paint! She thought that was the neatest thing!
On Thursday we took some time to make some yummy goodies to share. Of course she was so excited to be a helper! I said okay I need you to put the pretzels on the pan. This is what I came over to find..neat pretzel rows and her being very precise about where each one went!
One of her other tasks was to unwrap 2 bags of Rolo's. Well she had them all stacked nice and neat in layers in the bowl. She definitely likes some sort of organization! I found the recipe for these turtles on someones blog and forgot to write down where. These are real similar to the pretzels with the Hershey kisses with the m&m's on top.
So you place the Rolo's on top of the pretzels and place them in the oven for a few minutes to soften them. Pull them out and place a pecan half in the center and smoosh them down. I think the smooshing is the fun part. Now you can see here that I had to move the pretzels not so close together. Of course she wasn't too happy about me messing up her neat little rows.
So I don't have any photos of the finished product. I think I got caught up in the hundreds of mini cupcakes that invaded my kitchen! Holy Cow they were everywhere. I'll have to share a yummy recipe that I found.
So yesterday was one of those roller-coaster rides. I'm sure all I have to do is say the word "teen" and most of you will understand. Then if I add "teen girl" you may really get it! So it was just one of those days. My hubby came home and said that I had a package in the mail. Of course I was trying to remember what I had ordered last. Nope I got everything I had recently ordered. Not sure what it is. He came in with it and as soon as I saw the name on the package I was dying to know what was inside! Of course it was this wonderful handmade heart of "HOPE" just what I needed...hope! I love it! It was sent to me from Ruth Rae. I had met her at one of Kim's wonderful events! We were chatting and talking about some vintage goodies. I sent her something from my special stash at home. Well this was a sweet thank you from her! It came at the PERFECT time and i love it!
Well onto the cleaning and possibly painting before we head out to a family valentines party. Not sure what my flutt'r-ing mind will want to do! Have a good one!
1. to flutter around from one project to the next.
2. to start project and flutter onto a new one.
3. to have many projects in the works and move on and start yet another new one.
okay i have to confess! i am a flutter'r. i don't know what else to call it. well i'm sure there are several things you can call it, BUT flutter'er sounds so much cuter don't ya think? several weeks ago i mentioned i would be posting here on a regular basis on fridays. well i had good intentions last week and even took some photos, but one thing led to another and it's almost a week later! so what have i been up to? well in between dealing with sickies, being sick myself, and all the family stuff...i've been working on a few new class ideas, organizing a bit, even taking time to read, but last saturday i was out shopping at this fun place! they finally put one on this side of town and i'm so excited about it. so no kids in tow i was in heaven! well as i got looking and picking up this and that and feeling super giddy...somewhere in the back of my mind something said, "hey it's time to get rid of that red kitchen" what? i was thinking the same thing! so after heading home i called the 2 older kids to see if they would be up for an evening of painting! i was so lucky that they both said yes! so i stopped and got primer and several paint chips. so we cleaned and started the priming process!
kels quickly got everything taken off of the walls and shelves!
proof that he did help! the prep work is always a pain, but they did a great job helping!
proof that someone was playing with the camera while i wasn't watching! my nice camera :)
oh yet again more proof of someone playing with the camera. do they not realize that i will see the photos eventually? so we did get 1 coat of primer on almost everything including the cabinets! thank goodness i have a very understanding husband! after all these years i think he gets how i do things :)
so typepad was being a pain earlier in the day when i started this post. of course being the flutter'r that i am i moved onto something else for several hours! :) of course i have to finish this up so i can help aliya finish one of her projects for tomorrow. also thought i would mention that i think i found a fellow flutter'r.
So yesterday I headed to the flea market to meet up with Colleen and Sherry. Of course it was still dark and somewhat chilly out still! I shopped in my warm fuzzy slippers during the morning and kept pretty warm! I was glad to get a few things.
i fell in love with this old mail box. the lady had about 4 of them. they were from an old apartment building back east. it even has the parts that hold the newspaper at the bottom. i can't wait to get it hung!
i was so excited to find some vintage laces and some of them are handmade. love them all!
i also picked up some handmade doilies that i'm thinking about adding to a few projects. not sure though.
i found this cute stand and cover as well. the pink vintage flowers were a score at one of my fave local stores.
found this set for a great deal! still not sure if i will keep it or put it in the shop!
i fell in love with these napkins and have plans for them already! i tell ya the whole marie antoinette event has me loving those muted colors!
so sadly our cards lost. we caught the last few minutes of the game. they did good though. at church i get to teach the 14-15 yr old boys and girls. so today we got to play our own game of football with a field and all! they each got a flag and a super bowl survival kit to take home. it was a fun way to teach and let them enjoy super bowl day!
