So this is just a simple tutorial to show you how one of my pages was created. It started out with the prompt "windows". If you are needing inspiration or prompts for your art journal check out Tammy's blog! There is a lot of great info to keep anyone busy!
So I have a stack of cards that I work on when I have a few minutes here and there. I keep them on my desk and add to them and finish them when I can. I started flipping through these cards to see if there was anything I could work with. I came across this one and thought they could pass for windows.
I knew I would need a background for when I opened the windows so I found another card that I had just started. They work great together!
So after you have two cards or pages trim them down so they are both the same size. I just trimmed part way around the shape to create the window (could pass for a door). Make sure not to cut all the way or it won't open and close.
Decide what part of the card you want showing and glue the top card onto the bottom card. You will be gluing the back of the window card to the top of your background card. Make sure not to put glue on your windows or they won't open!
To finish up my card I used a black sharpie and a white gelly roll pen to add lines and doodles around the windows. When I had the thought to make the card I had planned on sewing the cards together around the edges. I ended up getting carried away with the border of doodles and decided the stitching might be too much at this point. So it's something you could try!
